What will this give as a graph?

Voltage (V) Current (mA)
0 0
1 20
2 30
3 65
4 98
5 174
6 280

  1. the following information given will give a curve when plotted onto a graph sheet.

  2. to me the following information can give a best fit straight line graph. Even though the values are not in a constant increase on the y axis, {which is the current (mA)} the graph can still be plotted as best fit straight line graph. Correct me if am wrong.......

  3. well i think it would not be a best fit straight line because if u go to plot the x value against the y value, the x value are increasing by a contant of 1 and the y value doest not increase by a constant therefore when the graph is being plotted the graph will be that of a curve and not a best fit straight line

  4. wel i took the liberty of sketching the graph and i got a curve, starting at the origin where initially it had a small increase on the y axis and until the last two co-ordinats it had a significant increase.

  5. It depends on how you labeled your axes:

    1) If voltage is the x-axis and current is the y-axis, then the slope = y/x

    or Current/Voltage = 1/R (use v=IR to solve -> R=V/I, 1/R=I/V), thus resistance = 1/slope

    2) If voltage is y-axis, and current is x-axis, then slope = voltage/current = resistance, thus R = slope in this case

but in this case voltage is on the x-axis thus the slope = y/x

    or Current/Voltage = 1/R

  6. well, miss angel i also sketched a graph...turns out u was right...i did get a curve, but it was a best fit.

  7. when this graph is s etched, u would obtain a curve because as V and I inceases, it begins to bend which indicates that a change in V causes a smaller change in I at larger values of V. i.e. the resistance (V/I) increases as V
    increases.

  8. I think it will give you a straight line depicting that as voltage increases the current will also increase

  9. i sketched the graph and i got a curve. plotting the graph with the voltage on the y-axis, i notice the graph begins to curve at 4 volts showing that the current begin to have greater increases from this voltage

  10. i would say that values given will give a curve because when you sketch the graph you will get a curve.if a best fit line is drawn only about two points will connect on the line and on the right side of the line the remainder points will be there and none on the left hand side, best fit line is supposed to connect to at least 3 points and the reminder points on the right hand and left hand side should be even

  11. i have a mental block for graphs i cant seem to understand them

  12. the only how i knew this would have been a curve is when i did it can you look at values and instantly say it is a curve or a straight line ?

  13. it wouldnt give a straight line because the difference of the increasing values are different with respect to the voltage values and current values.
it wod give more like a best fit curve.
if the difference of the values were in proportion it would give a straight line

  14. using this in electricity what is the graph showing? resistance?
wat does a v/i graph show?

    ReplyDelete
  15. well boy-b the graph shows with an increase in voltage V there will be an increase in current I but the values isn't proportional because of resistance

    ReplyDelete
  16. boy b the value of v/i = resitances but no 2 points on the graph will have the same resistance since the resulting shape of the graph is a curve

  17. Resistance: opposition to electric current: the opposition that a circuit, component, or substance presents to the flow of electricity.

    Symbol R
resistance is necessary for a current to flow..

  18. well i know from form 5 physics that the quantity mentioned first goes on the y-axis. so although the problem was not worded i still went on to put the voltage on the y-axis, when i sketch the graph. according to my sketch i got a best fit striaght line!!!

  19. i really wonder though how 'angel' got a curve when she sketched it. if i made a mistake can someone correct me or her plzzz

  20. when i plot this graph i got a a curve, non linear graph. where the points 0 to a 100 was scattered and the last two points were more linear i find. i polt this graph on excel.

  21. I agree with the people who said it will turn out to be a curvr, but the only way i see it would be a straight line is if the graph was turned into a log graph

  22. the graph will definitely give a curve that look like a tick.

  23. I was wrong in my first comment, when you plot the graph, it will give a curve

  24. Right it seems that we all are beginning to believe it will give a curve.
