What is meant by change in x-axis
What is meant by change in y-axis
What is meant by change in y-axis to change in x-axis?
What does the change in distance w.r.t. time signify?
How is this depicted or represented on a graph paper?
What is the gradient?

all of these things has to do with change. ths change in X & Y just means that its the differnce between two values. change in the x and y axis means gradient which is the same as rate of change
ReplyDeletei agree that rate of change is gradient and i also agree that a change in Y over the change in X is according to miss a "gradient machine" but when they say a change in X and in Y, what exactly does this portray on a graph?
ReplyDeletechange in distance wit respect to time signifies SPEED.
ReplyDeletespeed= distance / time
the gradient will be the change in velocity.
ReplyDeletethe representation in d graph paper will show how the speed changes when traveling a distance an d time taken. from d graph u wil b able to recognize where there was accerleration and deceleration therefore finding d gradient.
well said crazykid! i know that change in y over change in x is gradient but what does it mean separately, e.g change in y-axis alone or change in x alone
ReplyDeletegradient is the degree to which something inclines; a slope. And also the rate at which a physical quantity, such as temperature or pressure changes over a distance.
ReplyDeletechange in x-axis to me means a shift in the x-axis horizontally
ReplyDeletetherefore the change in y-axis will be the change in the y-axis vertically
ReplyDeletechange in y-axis to change in x-axis means gradient
ReplyDeletechange in distance w.r.t. time signifies that there is a change in the distance on the y-axis over the change in time on the x-axis
ReplyDeletegradient is rate of change of Y over rate of change of X
ReplyDeletei think we find the change in y and change in x so we can relate specifically to the quantities we're dealing wit.
ReplyDeleteok lets take velocity as an example.
ReplyDeletewe wil calculate the change in time to find the overall time taken.
we will calculate the change in distance to find the total distance travelled.
then we would calculate
the change in distance / change in time
to find the rate the vehicle is travelling
so as i said b4, i think we find d change in x and y so we'll know what quantity we're dealing wit
Change in the y-axis to the change in the x-axis is finding the gradient...and gradient is basically the rate of change of something wid respect to another..
ReplyDeleteChange in distance w.r.t time signifies rate.
well rate of change as everyone knows is the gradient, which is understood as Y2-Y1/X2-X1. and that means the change of the Y values over the change in the X values. this can simply mean the change of Y with respect to X or the rate of change of Y with respect to X. This is known as differentiation and is denoted by dY/dX. as crazy kid said velocity s the change of distance with respect to change of time, and is the same concept with acceleration which is the change of velocity with respect to change of time. in real life these are two popular base question and all you have to know is how to find velocity and acceleration.
ReplyDeleteGradient is the change in y over the change in X. once there is a starting and an end point on a graph a gradient can be calculated from 2 values on the graph
ReplyDeleteChange in distance w.r.t time is known as speed. this type of information can be respresented as as straight line graph once the distance moved is directly proportional to time and as a curve if they are not in proportionality.
ReplyDeleteChange in x-axis means a shift in the x-axis horizontally from one point to another
ReplyDeleteWhereas the change in y-axis means a shift in the y-axis vertically from one point to another
X axis The axis of the graph that is horizontal, side to side.
ReplyDeleteY axis The axis of the graph that is vertical, up and down.
