What is the purpose of exponent?
Is a quadratic an exponent?
It is said that everything in life involves some aspect of Maths, give some real life scenarios thanvolves some aspect of Maths, give some real life scenarios that involves the exponent aspect of maths.

i believe that the purpose of exponents is to simplify logs and to get it in a workable format! can someone correct me if its actually the other way around:)
ReplyDeletea quadratic is actually an exponent because besides from numbers, it contains varibles, and not FUNCTIONS.
ReplyDelete(NB) dont forget to correct my 1st question, if it needs to be corrected i mean.
Yes i believe you are correct. An exponent is to simplify logs but it can only be used when the log question is in the correct form.
ReplyDeletei definitely know that maths is encorporated in everyday life such as in simple buying and selling, or even planning time schedules! but what real life scenerios does the exponent aspect of maths involve?
ReplyDeleteexponent to me is a number that is in superscript to the number which means that the superscript number is the power number.the power can be used to simply long multiplication formulars like saying 10*10*10*10*10*10 =1,000,000
ReplyDeletean easier way is to jus say 10^6 instead of writing 10 six times.it is the shortened way of expressing 10 by itself six times which is easier an shorter.
some real life scenarios are when nasa is doing calculations between earth and various planets and stars they use exponents to represnt the exact distances measured.it is also used in calculations in physics when working with very large numbers or very small numbers.eg 6.12*10^(-9)which represents an exact value
ReplyDeletehmmm i am not sure if a quadratic is an exponent.can anyone help understand this some more?????????
ReplyDeleteok im kinda lost
ReplyDeletewell i think a quadratic is not an exponent, but however it can be turned into one
ReplyDeletei actually think that a quadratic is an exponent because it does not contain a function. logs are functions and exponents are not. therefore a quadratic is like an exponent but diffinitely not like logs
ReplyDeletei don't think a quadratic is an exponent. i believe its a function containing exponents.
ReplyDeletewell i know a quadratic is a funtion that has variables in it. depeding on the infomation that is give it can be used like an exponent not too sure doh
ReplyDeleteAn exponent is a quantity representing the power to which some other quantity is raised. Exponents do not have to be numbers or constants they can be variables.Exponents are important in scientific notation, when large or small quantities are denoted as powers of 10.
ReplyDeleteThe purpose of exponent is to truly make logs easier since they are both the same and equal..exponent to me in real life can be to shorten bigger numbers ..correct me if am wrong..a quadratic is a fuction which has variables..and so is the exponent which has raised values or powers such as to 10
ReplyDeleteI think i was wrong an exponent is not a quadratic, but i still don't understand why.
ReplyDeleteTo me the purpose of exponent is to simplify long multiplications of the same number of variable.
ReplyDeleteeg 2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2*2
to write out this is quite time consumging however to write 2^20 is not
I know that many real life senatioes which involves exponent are involved in he science field. i cant think of any right now, but will post as soon as i can...
ReplyDeletethe exponential of a quantity is what you get when u raise a certain positive real number, called the base, to a power equal to that quantity.
ReplyDeletean exponential function has a base and an exponent, just as a logarithm has. in fact, an exponential function is an "inside-out" way of looking at a logaritm function.
